while we're on the subject... there's been a lot of chatter, some of it not so great, about the upcoming film . it tells the story of ian curtis, joy division's lead singer. a trailer appeared on youtube a few days ago. looks pretty great to me. apparently, the actors really play the songs.
you may have seen those joy division/factory records-themed shoes a few months ago. well, and they're more evocative of the legendary label's era. these reference the --the club in manchester which was at the center of the scene.
appears to take . it's relatively cheap ($499), takes 6mp stills, and it's completely safe for underwater use.
it's really great that adult swim keeps giving away music. as if the hilarious shows weren't enough. previous exclusive freebies like definitive swim and chocolate swim were fantastic. this latest giveaway is called and it's str8up indie rock. an impressive line-up.Labels: fmrm

is an indie rock band from amherst, ma that had its heyday in the mid 90s. i recently heard their rarities collection, leftover blues 1991-2003, and was very impressed.
if you haven't heard of , he's singer/beatmaker who makes fun, choppy jams. he's also an amazing performer. this pretty much shows you what he's all about. the blog has a hot new with a panther (re)mix by our boy . quarbz has mashed some of his beats with loops and snippets from panther songs. it's a dancey good time at 120 bpm and 7 minutes.
MC Eriksolo’s cleverly incisive wordplay and cerebral flow are as finely honed as ever and act as the perfect foil for Quarterbar’s dark, blunted beats and atmospheric programming. Eriksolo’s delivery is as much indie rock as it is underground hip-hop, with its focus on metaphysical issues and the abstraction of interpersonal relationships. Quarterbar’s programming may take a cue from artists as diverse like, but the deeply personal nature of these meticulously constructed tracks allows them to seem far from derivative. These six brief pieces have certainly whetted this reviewer’s appetite for a (hopefully inevitable) full-length.HOLLER!!!

bjork brought her pixie-dusting, barefoot up-rocking, "zank you"-ing magic to town tonight and needless to say, it was amazing. who knew lazer light shows could be so awesome? she still has two shows left in nyc, but if you aren't going to either of them, you can still catch live broadcast of saturday's show starting at 8PM est.
