if you lived in the bay area in the late 80s, there's a reasonable chance you'll know this jam by robert seidler. live 105 played the hell out of it. it fit the times perfectly. kinda rockin' in a rick springfield way, but with a flock of seagulls meets new order thing going on too. a more ethereal gene loves jezebel? who knows. check it out. it's one of my favorite songs.
there's a great new record by oakland's own . expertly written and skillfully executed pop songs. guitar drums, keys, strings. some of the tracks have a beatles-ish quality, some have a more modern indie rock feel. check a track.
i'm really into the songs posted on myspace by the oakland/santa rosa guitar duo . great melodies and harmonies and great dueling acoustic guitar work. certain songs remind me of john fahey or donovan or acoustic kinks songs. they are criminally without a label somehow. so, if you know someone who runs a label, pass on this post on as a hot tip. check a track:
