another rockin' submission to sneakmove. , from birmingham uk, has released four new tracks on their myspace page. energetic and soaring rock anthems with heavy keyboards over driving guitars, the type of band that would sound great in a large outdoor arena on a warm summer night.
the fellas from sent in their new cd for sneakmove to check out. "are you ready for the heartache cause here it comes" has 12 poppy guitar-driven tracks that are reminiscent of buddy holly, 80's elvis costello, and a dash of they might be giants (especially on my favorite track "love astronaut").
if you lived in the bay area in the late 80s, there's a reasonable chance you'll know this jam by robert seidler. live 105 played the hell out of it. it fit the times perfectly. kinda rockin' in a rick springfield way, but with a flock of seagulls meets new order thing going on too. a more ethereal gene loves jezebel? who knows. check it out. it's one of my favorite songs.
there's a great new record by oakland's own . expertly written and skillfully executed pop songs. guitar drums, keys, strings. some of the tracks have a beatles-ish quality, some have a more modern indie rock feel. check a track.
who is spencer elden? he was the baby on the cover of nirvina's nevermind album, and he is now 17. man i feel old, where did those 17 years go?
i'm really into the songs posted on myspace by the oakland/santa rosa guitar duo . great melodies and harmonies and great dueling acoustic guitar work. certain songs remind me of john fahey or donovan or acoustic kinks songs. they are criminally without a label somehow. so, if you know someone who runs a label, pass on this post on as a hot tip. check a track:

as reported on today's edition of the bbc website, legendary rock group for their first gig together in 19 years, playing a tribute show in honor of the founder of atlantic records.
