if you’re a 17 year old boy in belgium, i imagine you’re overcome with excitement about “jump style” dancing. here are two videos with evidence of this (courtesy our pal pleasure)…
click the youtube logo to view the counter on that second one. currently 4,034,187, and not a one from u.s.a…

I never thought something could be BOTH gay AND lame at the same time, but there it is…
Anonymous said,
for me the point of dancing was always to try and dance with girls. not wuite sure what to make of this,
Anonymous said,
No girls here! Why do I keep thinking “skinheads” when I watch this?
Anonymous said,
yeah, maybe for you guys in the states this is lame, only because you don’t get the music. In the us. you guys still liesen to the 70’s music in the clubs…pathetic!
Anonymous said,
We have this in the states, it’s called hopscotch.

at least the europeans don’t try to destroy each other in wars anymore.

This is where they got that “new” dance style from…. stop ripping us off!

ok, a bunch of guys imagining to play hackeysack, big deal…

Looks fun. A relatively simple high energy dance. Not bad compared to some of the crap that is going around.

Proves it again. Europeans are fruit booties.
And to the idiot that said Europeans aren’t killing each other in wars……see anything about Ireland lately. There’s this thing called the IRA. They have a tendency to blow shit up.
Anonymous said,
It’s true, not only do we destroy each other in wars, but we also have pathetic 70s music in our clubs. We have a long way to go as a culture, and as a people.
With the exception that we decided to abandon the Nutcracker as a youth dance craze in the early 30s.

This is just awesome
Thats why europe rulez
cuz we’re havin sum fun with true style, without phony superficial blabla shit

ok, wtf.. it’d be nice if the camera they used could record more than 2 fps.

The whole time I was watching this I was thinking “Kid & Play” from the ’80s
New? I don’t think so.
Anonymous said,
actually it’s style that obviously originates from russian traditional dancing..and a tiny bit like the pogo dance which may remind some of certain skinhead movements

Personally I cant see this “awesome” dance craze catching on. The lack of girls does kind of make me wonder. Do you think girls would dance like that is they “found out” about it? I can’t see any girls on the homepage of the jumpfreakz site.
I mean that dance doesn’t really seem to have much to it, it could probably do with some variation but its “new” so maybe it’ll get better over time. It looks a bit like toprocking (the bit of breakdancing you do standing up) but no where near as good.
As for the person that used the IRA as an example of how Europeans still “blow shit up”, the IRA disarmed within the last few months and have vowed to stop all activity. Americans aren’t exactly the best for not starting wars. But lets not get that in the way of this amazing new dance form.

Looks like Dance Dance Revolution has finally resulted in a real dance
Anonymous said,
They can call it jumping or jump dance if they want but what it is is basically “Kick Step” popularized in the late 80’s and early 90’s by Kid N Play.

omg please don’t let this stuff spread! i’m from belgium myself and i have to say i’m deeply ashamed by the people ‘dancing’ like this. you always see a couple at parties, luckily i’ve never seen a whole mass, it’s usually just a small group. it just looks incredibly stupid, and it’s mostly showoffs who claim they’re “good” at it. i’m not saying any of this out of jealousy, because i’ve tried dancing like this myself (as a thruth or dare thing) and friends said i was actually quite “good”, if there is such a thing, but i couldn’t help feeling incredibly stupid and silly while doing so. anyways, just to say that 1) it’s not really that impressive and 2) this is not representative for belgium
Anonymous said,
wtf are you going on about “europeans” and “americans”?
that is so mature… NOT!
in both environments you’ll find cool people as well as shiteheads, so what’s the big deal?
0ffh
(from europe, btw)
Anonymous said,
meh this craze is almost over, give it half a year and already something new is “cool” here (in belgium). Maybe then it will fly over to the US
did i mention that it’s actually ridiculous and only done by people under 20?
Anonymous said,
At least the first video (on street) is not from Belgium but from Estonia. I’m not native myself, but I can surely hear them speaking some Estonian, and also the environment looks more like Eastern Europe than something like Belgium.

a masked person on the tv show “so you think you can dance” did a “jump style” routine… i just thought it was stupid, but no its an actual style

the 2047 war between belgium and the u.s. will settle this once and for all. all europeans are gay and start wars. NO americans are gay. and we only started the civil war 0f 1911 which was for a good cause.
p.s.
i have not watched the dance videos but i’m sure they’re fine.

I GET IT! They are trying to shake down the other pant leg. Obviuosly the others that have already got the wayward pantleg to fall just don’t want the other guys to look foolish
And isn’t this refreshing anyway! I mean at least the getting exercise and not sitting in front of a keyboard watching other people dance.

It doesnt look half as Gay as kid n play, and I’d rather my kids be dancing to music than throwing dry ice bombs in the street.

It’s actually quite hard to do and, while you do feel silly doing it, it’s a physical challenge. If people want to bounce to a beat, you can’t really stop them.

Here’s what it looks like to me. You go to a venue where a hot ska band is playing, you know, Reel Big Fish or something, and all of the center of the crowd (if it’s a ska friendly crowd and not just a bunch of goths and metal heads who had nothing beter to do) is skanking it up. But turn your focus to the back where a measly group of newcomers to the ska world are trying to learn to skank. They’ve got the general idea but they don’t really know which foot should do what when and how to make it look good. They think they’re awesome at it, but unfortunately they look rediculous, which is why there are no girls among them. I’ve seen it many times. Never thought I’d see it become popular.
