full disclosure: i went to high school with cass mccombs. and while i haven’t seen or talked to him since, i’m happy to see that he’s kept up with his music. he’s pretty dang good.

new album, “catacombs” will be released through domino records on june 1 in the uk, and july 7 in the usa. you can pre-order it now though. i’d say that’s a good idea.

the excellent music blog musicophilia has posted its entire 9-part collection of essentials from 1981. the collection features: “hundreds of key artists, the famed and the forgotten, from the apex of post-punk and the ascent of new-pop, synth-pop, and related artforms.” sounds pretty amazing. go get it.

this site called dusty tunes allows you to upload your itunes library song info and then displays it in a neat expandable directory sort of way. you can also click on songs and get previews and purchase links. it’s a very fresh way to show people what you’re into, but don’t let the riaa see!

the bomarr blog posted about an interesting mixtape. stupid intelligent by brothers backward. featuring passage from restiform bodies, the brothers rap over mr. oizo, nas, crystal castles, talking heads and more. head over to the bomarr blog to grab it.
