nick catchdubs & mr. ducker’s "radio friendly unit shifter" mix

the homie mr. ducker collaborated with nick catchdubs on a great ’90s-themed mix that was just released by streetwear label mishka. it’s called radio friendly unit shifter and it’s a round-up of alt-rock hits by bands ranging from cibo matto to sonic youth. i helped out on the project by mining my digi-crates for some of the songs the guys used in the set. (i haven’t seen the cd yet, but word is i’m thanked in the liner notes alongside matt pinfield and daria morgendorffer – sweet.) a limited number of physical promos were given out to retailers last week at magic. the download version is available for free to everyone else. grab it!

bonus: here’s a ’90s fave they didn’t use for the mix. maybe it’ll end up on volume 2?

1991 video of buckethead with deli creeps, plus early pic of buckethead unmasked

in early 1991 i saw a band called the deli creeps open for mr. bungle at oakland night spot the omni (rip). everyone was blown away by the mysterious guitarist, with a michael meyers mask and bucket on his head, who played like no one had ever heard before.

somehow even with high profile gigs like g’n'r, buckethead has continued to be a secret-identity superhero through the years. i’m thrilled to have just found a video that captures the magic of spring 1991, as the 19-or-20 yr old shreds with his original band at sf’s club o (rip). plus, look at the old pic of him without his mask!!!! (found linked on his wikipedia entry).

preview a sample buckethead track:

diy ipod nano case with urban camo option

** UPDATE–our new project! diy cut-and-fold paper iphone **

the new ipod nano is amazing but what a pity that cases are still unavailable.
amid reports of scratch-sensitive screens we propose a solution: take matters into your own hands and make your own nano case.

how it works:
1. download the nano template and print it out.
2. following instructions, cut on solid lines and fold on dotted ones.

and even better is to use the cutout as a guide to trace onto any other material. fold and tape. voila! (here’s a secret: a packet of eclipse gum is nearly the perfect size–one less piece of packaging clogging up a landfill, and no one will know what you’ve really got in your pocket.)

you can probably do better, so feel free to tweak template (.ai illustrator vector format)-mix, modify, improve. send the files and pics (sneakmove at gmail) of your achievements and we’ll put ‘em online.

need an ipod? get one here and help support sneakmove… ipod nano on amazon.com

if this has been helpful to you and you’ve got some spare change laying around, feel free to donate a buck via paypal.
