vbs’ “donk” documentary: making you realize there are still things in the world you’ll never know about

if i hadn’t checked the vbs email update this morning, i’d likely never know about this music craze happening specifically in north western uk, called “donk.” a 150+bpm house music defined by a rhythmic donking sound, the local blokes and lasses go apeshit at the discos and clubs to this style of music. lead by bolton’s hometown heroes blackout crew, the dude from vice gets a week-long tour of what’s hot up north.

personally, it reminds me of hanging around the outskirts of boston. mostly cuz the guys are all jacked up on steroids, freshly bronzed from the tanning salon, and ready to hit you in the face with a 2×4 at a moment’s notice. and that’s why i love it. check out all five parts.
