dj/producer deadmau5 new album released as iphone remix app

canadian producer deadmau5 has garnered a pretty intense following in his quick ascent to the top of the dj echelon. now, in a move that sidesteps the itunes record pricing restrictions, he’s released an album of new tracks as an iphone app that lets you “remix” the songs with a light array of effects (loop, flange, filter, delay). all for just $2.99. while i think the “remix your own” market is too small for this model to have longterm success, the innovative approach to marketing a new album through new technologies is awesome to observe.

here’s a deadmau5 track that’s hot on the kcrw playlists right now (sneakmove rss and email list subscribers can access the mp3 download – sign up free!)
