cash music + creative commons: info about cc for musicians, labels, etc.

one of the things i’ve wanted to do for a long time at creative commons is to put together a guide to cc-licensing that was specific to musicians and/or people working in the music industry (and particularly the NEW music industry). luckily, help came in the form of the very awesome cash music – an organization dedicated to creating open tools for artists and the music industry. jesse von doom at cash took the lead in creating the guide, which includes a basic intro to the concepts behind cc as well as some use case studies with info about how artists like nine inch nails, kristin hersh, radiohead, deerhoof, and jonathan coulton have all used creative commons licenses to achieve a variety of aims. the guide just launched this week – check it out!
