digital downloads are killing off record sales? radiohead has a strong argument against that, as the cd release of in rainbows hit number one in both the us and the uk this week. as you remember, radiohead put this album out digitally a couple months ago for a “pay as you please” price. proving the concept on the first attempt, don’t be surprised to see a large shift in the way other major artists release their works…

It’s a good example of effective net promotion and a pioneering effort to sanction “Leak Dates”.
But they did sell about 1/3 of the CDs compared to their last release. However, if they sold 50,000+ of the collector edition, which I’ve heard, they more than made their money.
Basically, they are rolling in Euros!
