firefox lets you spot and avoid riaa music on amazon

the firefox extension greasemonkey is pretty sick. quarby was showing me the wild things it can do, like find any mp3 file linked on a page and display a flash player next to it so you can listen to it embedded on the page. (userscripts.org has all the greasemonkey scripts you could ever dream of, including the mp3 player).

the site black sweater white cat has a great writeup about installing and configuring greasemonkey so it will alert you of any riaa music on amazon, in case you’re trying to avoid supporting the riaa’s heavy-handed tactics (drm, analog hole, etc etc). cool way to get the most from the “internet experience.”
