rio, one of the first portable mp3 player manufacturers, announced today that it will no longer be selling portable digital music players. the
press release has more information on their future plans--something about networked home electronics (whatever that means) and boston acoustics (they bought the speaker company a while back). while being one of the top companies in this field, i still don't know anyone who has one of their products, a testament to the dominance of the ipod. personally, i think a name change would be a good next move.
